Planning and registration materials for Turkey Trot 2011 are NOW AVAILABLE HERE! Skaters at every skill level can register to compete in dance, freestyle, artistic, compulsary and interpretive events. The event will be held beginning Saturday morning, followed by the Michigan High School Competition. Medals and trophies will be awarded. Bring your camera to capture memories of the event.
For those of you new to Turkey Trot:
Turkey Trot is the only competition hosted by the Copper Country Skating Academy. It is our club's biggest fundraiser of the year, so volunteers are needed to help with almost everything. The two day event includes a test session on Friday, and competition on Saturday including a High School team competition.
There are many other figure skating competitions around the state and region that your figure skater can enter. Another popular one for CCSA skaters is the Marquette International Open (MIO) in Marquette in February. Competitive skating is a fun way for skaters to improve their skills and perform their programs.
Turkey Trot is the CCSA's biggest fundraiser for the year and we need help from EVERY skating family to make this event a success. There are many ways to help, including:
- Accounting Room -- help with paperwork, computer entry, etc..
- Music -- push the button to start the music for freestyle and dance programs
- Announcing -- read the names to get skaters on the ice for their events
- Registration -- check off names and hand out registration information
- Ice Monitor -- help get the skaters on the ice for their events
- Runners -- take result sheets from the judges to accounting and to the results board
- Awards -- hand out medals and ribbons
- Practice Ice -- sign up skaters for practice times
- Hospitality -- help keep the judges happy with good food and warm drinks
- Flower Sales -- every skater loves the attention of flowers!
- Clean-up -- after another successful competition
